Classes & programs
Racquetball
One of the most in-demand areas of the center, the racquetball court, has been a regular meeting place for members since the center opened.
Raquetball cost is $3.00 per person per hour or purchasing a full play membership for an additional$10.00 a month on any contract . Reservations are required for use of the court by calling the center’s front desk receptionist at (337) 942-1326.
Spinning
Louisiana Family Fitness Center offers a well-equipped cardio room with multiple machines. Our cardio room amenities include treadmills, step machines, NuStep machines, recumbent bikes, rowers, Jacob’s ladders, upward bikes and elliptical machines; all stationed behind four 47-inch flat-screen televisions.
Basketball
Our basketball court may not be regulation size, but it’s big enough for a whole lot of dribbling fun. The court is often the site of basketball games and also utilized by solo players brushing up on their form.
No reservations are necessary.
Personal Training
Our four personal trainers are now accepting new clients. For those who struggle with motivation, want to be pushed a little harder, or desire one-on-one attention to meet their physical fitness goals, a personal trainer may be the perfect fit. Personal trainers can also assist those who struggle to operate machines alone, can provide workout variety and provide education on effective and proper exercise techniques.
To inquire about personal training, contact us at 337.942.1326 or email Melissa.Arclese@LHCgroup.com.
Tanning Beds
Louisiana Family Fitness Center offers to its members three Sunvision ZX30 tanning beds for use by appointment only and for a nominal fee. The beds feature 30, 100-watt lamps for a fast, dark, full-body tan. A curved, 7-foot tanning surface offers all-around tanning in a comfortable position.
Our certified tanning professionals will help you achieve your tanning goals. Those interested in utilizing the tanning facilities must first complete a registration packet before their first tanning session.
Sessions are available for varying lengths of time including a 1 to 20 minute range.
Louisiana Family Fitness Center also offers some tanning products for sale, like goggles and oils.
Pools
Louisiana Family Fitness Center is currently the only facility in the area to offer both indoor and outdoor pools to its members. The center’s outdoor pool is 75 feet long by 30 feet wide and is open on a seasonal basis. During the warmer months, swimming lessons are offered to a variety of age groups in the facility’s outdoor pool.
The temperature-controlled indoor pool is open year round and is home to group water aerobics and arthritis aerobics classes. The pool measures 45 feet long by 30 feet wide. Lap swimming is allowed in both pools.
What is BMI?
BMI, more often than not, correlates with total body fat. This means that as the BMI score increases, so does a person’s total body fat.
The CDC defines an adult who has a BMI between 25 and 29.9 as overweight – an adult who has a BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese – a BMI below 18.5 is considered underweight, and between 18.5 to 24.9 a healthy weight .
